Senior VP Manufacturing
Jean Blais has more than 45 years of experience in the pulp and paper industry, having been hired by a major pulp and paper company in Canada following his graduation from École Polytechnique de Montréal with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. He followed this with numerous engineering and management positions in several pulp and paper mills in the Province of Québec, along with a senior management training program at Western University in London, Ontario. He became mill manager at F.F. Soucy in 1987, a position he held until 2004 while also supervising Bear Island mill operations. Since 2004, in his current role at White Birch, Mr. Blais has actively participated in the company’s expansion program, including the acquisition and integration of the Stadacona mill in 2004 and the Papier Masson mill in 2006.
Mr. Blais’s professional affiliations and accreditations include the Québec Order of Engineers, the Forest Products Association of Canada, the Québec Forest Industry Council (former board member and president), the Québec Pulp and Paper Safety Association, the Economic Development Corporation of Rivière-du-Loup (former vice president) and the Regional Commission of the port of Gros-Cacouna (former president).
